ABOUT
THe BArley’s Story
Step back in time when you enter a 1920s appliance store of 8,000 square feet, restored by the owners and staff of the Original Barley’s Taproom. Opened in 1994 in the heart of Asheville, North Carolina, the aroma of our famous sourdough pizza will greet you as you browse our awesome selection of 56 beers on tap (and still more in bottles and cans).
The main floor houses the restaurant, where fresh sourdough pizza, salads, & lasagna are served up daily. The downstairs bar has 28 taps featuring the region’s best selection of American craft brewed beers, including Highland Brewing, the first legal brewery in Asheville since Prohibition. Highland began its operation in the basement of Barley’s Taproom, where Highland brewed Beer City’s original craft beers, such as the Gaelic Ale and the Oatmeal Porter, both of which we pour to this day, 29 years later.
Upstairs is the Billiard Room with four regulation slate billiard tables that are available by the hour. Dart lanes are also available for guests. An additional 28 taps are highlighted at the upstairs bar. Barley’s Taproom has been recognized as “Best Taproom in the South” in Southern Draught Beer News and picked a “Top Tap in the South” by Celebrator Beer Magazine.
